CITA (Central Iowa Trail Association), located in Des Moines, Iowa, is a 501(c)(3) formed in 1998. CITA is also a local chapter of IMBA (International Mountain Biking Association).

We are a 100% volunteer-led organization, working with local land managers like Polk County Conservation, the City of Des Moines, Iowa DNR, and Water Works Park to maintain singletrack trails for mountain biking in the Des Moines area.

All of the trail work is possible because of CITA's passionate volunteers, members, and longstanding community support. We are an inclusive members-driven organization that ensures everyone has the opportunity to discover our local trails, meet new people, improve their skills, and volunteer to pay it all forward so that we, and generations to come, may benefit.

Since CITA is volunteer-led; our capacity is defined largely by our board, members and volunteers – individuals and organizations who want to create quality outdoor experiences and, especially, value single-track.

CITA does not and shall not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion (creed), gender, gender expression, age, national origin (ancestry), disability, marital status, sexual orientation, or military status, in any of its activities or operations. CITA values diverse perspectives and seeks to increase accessibility of trail systems for all persons living and visiting the Des Moines metro area.

Your support of CITA makes for a vibrant mountain biking community. Everyone deserves great places to ride close to home - during good times and bad. Without local trail organizations like CITA and our volunteers, planning, construction, and maintenance of trails close to home just doesn’t happen.

There are many ways you can support this work. Consider taking a leadership position, making a donation or enjoying the expanding value of membership today.

Central Iowa Trail Association is a community. The singletrack trails you have come to know and love are only possible because of local trail stewards and volunteers who do it for the dirt.

Thank you to Jason Prine with MC22 for putting this documentary together about CITA!
